Why is Microsoft Azure very expensive?
Hello everyone,
I hosted my Website on Microsoft Azure pay as you go Centos 7.2 Linux cloud 4GB RAM / 2 CPU
the daily visitors are about 200 only a day
the site size is about 5GB only
The website is messaging App
I even use Google Firebase for the messaging service
The website is to host the people files only and it is only 5GB only in 6 months because they upload only pictures
And as I said the daily visitors is about 200 users only a day
but microsoft billed me about 350 USD a month
Ahy is that?

Yes they gave me a link for the usage
Everything is normal
But bandwidth says that I use about 250 USD a month
The users are only 200 users a day
The users upload only a small jpg profile picture
I don't delete the files nor upload new files
The website rank in Alexa is about 4.7 Million
That 250 USD a month traffic should be for a site like Yahoo not my site

It says about 3.5 GB
But I did not upload anything the past 2 months
I uploaded the files in first month only and I thought it was expensive for uploading the files and update the server
3.5 GB is too much because the whole size site is 5 GB and most of the files are the backend and users can't even see them they can see only each others profile display picture and everything else is just a text
I host it now on a shared webhosting and it works without any issue and there is no overload
if the users use the shared hosting resources it would suspend the website as you know
But the problem is Microsoft won't let me download last backup before Pay and I told them it is too muchLast edited by Cute Server; 03-05-2021 at 08:57 AM.

Something seems off here, you need to post screenshots, instance types, cpu usage, storage mounts, bandwidth in and out and destinations monthly, to help us help you more.

With a tiny site you are probably looking at around $40.00/month, if you had more just for bandwidth then that may be the cause, especially if they were from pricer areas.

I did not pay
They could not charge last month because it was a prepaid card and I did not know it will be that expensive
But they won't let me download the backup before Pay the invoice
I host the same files on a shared webhosting now and there is no overload
If the users use the website resources they would suspend it because it is a shared webhosting has limits in everything even if they said it is unlimited

That's the same with any provider if you fail to pay.
I host the same files on a shared webhosting now and there is no overload
If you've already left, and won't be paying, what's the point of the thread?Your one stop shop for decentralization

It's the way big clouds are. You're paying for the compute resources (4G ram & 2 vCPU) which would be expensive on their own, then you add 5GB of storage and whatever your bandwidth is (bandwidth is also very expensive)... $350 USD for that is quite cheap for the big cloud.

What disk type are you using?
If your just using Azure for storage consider just using Azure Blob storage rather then a VM, or if the VM is powering your website and the storage doesn't need to be fully redundant just use Standard disks rather then Premium Managed disks, the Premium disks are more aimed at government and enterprise customers where downtime isn't an option. But for standard disks you can just do daily backups using Azure backups and you can recover pretty quickly.
Also how much bandwidth are you using per month, Microsoft bill for both Incoming and outgoing Bandwidth.
But you can fix the bandwidth by sticking a CDN infront of your site.CPK Web Services

This makes no sense what so ever.
What are you trying to build?
It sounds like you should be using a managed hosting provider, let them take care of the hosting platform so you can focus on your app.
Cloud services are ideal for hosting social media type sites but you need to have a partner that knows the ins and outs of whatever platform you want to use so your site doesn't crash and you don't get a huge monthly bill.CPK Web Services

Maybe it's just me, but I'm missing something here. You did not pay, migrated elsewhere and cannot take backups from Microsoft Azure until you pay your past due invoice (in a nutshell). Are you simply trying to understand how Microsoft Azure bills for bandwidth?
