Question Domain name expired what the current domain status?

    Hi,

There is a domain name I would like to get, which is/was at Namecheap and was wondering when it will drop to be freely available for registerion

    The domain states the following

    Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2020-04-26Txx:xx:xx.00Z
    Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited
    Domain Status: pendingDelete https://icann.org/epp#pendingDelete
    Domain Status: redemptionPeriod https://icann.org/epp#redemptionPeriod
    Registry Registrant ID:
    Registrant Name: REACTIVATION PERIOD

What is the current status of the domain from the above

    Thanks
    Regards,
    Garry

Looks like it's in the redemption period. However this one lasts depends on the registrar and on the TLD (ie: 27 days for a .com @ NameCheap).

You can read more about the process here:

Time was "pending delete" meant it was imminent (like 5/6 days later). Not sure how it benefits anyone to have both that and "redemption period" on a domain all at once. Even their own blog (link above) says this is wrong:
Once the redemption period is over, the domain name goes into what’s called pending delete. At this point, it means the domain name will expire and be deleted. This process is often swift, but it can take up to 90 days

Namecheap puts expired domains for sale in their Marketplace. If the original owner renews then you get your money back.

That why I was getting a bit confused to see both them there, as it didn't make sense to me.
