    * 1U Colocation Frankfurt

I am planning to centralize different VPS and finally off-site backup for personal use by colocating a server. I got two great offers, both from individuals with remaining space in their rack in Frankfurt, both multihomed with a blend including some kind of AS3320 paid peering, lots of public peering, different Tier 1 with proper optimization. That's why I am just interested in the normal going price range for my request and information on companies only in case of extraordinary offers.
    • 1U (and for comparison 2U)
    • /29 IPv4 (and for comparison 2 IPv4)
    • /48 IPv6 (or less, /56 would be enough)
    • DTAG/AS3320 paid peering (can be indirect)
    • 5TB traffic with flexible fair use on Gigabit Ethernet
    • reasonable power included
    • Frankfurt preferred or if the value is extraordinarily good, anything within 10ms

Core-backbone should be able to do it in Nuremberg and they have several 100gbps of capacity towards DTAG.

Although it is supposed to be optimised by Noction and using
IRP Premium Blend of 4 Transit Providers Included (Level 3, Hurricane Electric, Limelight, DE-CIX Peering with routing optimized across our international network.)
, they are using the worst possible route to DTAG. Cogent Frankfurt -> Paris -> Frankfurt. Limelight would be the best, as they are using DTAG transit and Level 3 and even HE would still be a lot better. And the certificate of the speedtest server is expired since over months.

I definetely won't consider using them.

I have our Network Engineers checking out the routing and the speedtest cert. I will post an update to this later today.

    Are you serious?

In Frankfurt, 1 transit (Cogent) + 1 exchange (DE-CIX) and broken IPv6. If you don't have all transits everywhere, don't advertise as such. Literally every other tier 1 performs at least far better to DTAG than Cogent, even HE.

    Hi,

Looks like you are looking for a hosting provider located in Frankfurt (region) and not so much a data center, as they usually do not offer shared colocation services. You could check, for instance, Serverius, LeaseWeb, Voxility or First Colo.

    Best of luck.

    Hello,

For Frankfurt you should check 23media.com

They have always been solid for me.

We had been using them for a while and their support has been extremely responsive. I am sure if you give them a chance, they will be able to sort out the routing issue for you.

We were having some issues with our Noction optimization. We have corrected the issue. Please test again and let us know if you are still seeing suboptimal routes. Additionally, we are adding Level 3 to the blend in Frankfurt. We have been waiting on them to turn up our circuit for a while now...hopefully any day.

When it goes live, Noction should make sure that all traffic to DTAG will be routed over Level 3. DTAG <-> Cogent is atrocious, under 1 MBit/s throughp during peak. Cogent is adding detours via other peerings, in this case in Paris as a workarround.

Please consider revising your website (https://www.hivelocity.net/about/network/ and https://www.hivelocity.net/products/...n/frankfurt-1/), to list the used transits and IX per location, because in Frankfurt, for example, only DE-CIX and Cogent are actually used, even HE would be a improvement. Level 3 will be a great improvement, I will test the performance when it is live and consider you.
