WHTwiki:User pages
User pages and user talk pages
Everyone with an Internet connection can read WebHostingTalk content, but users must be WHT members to participate in the wiki and the forum. Therefore, at WHTwiki, users = members. We usually use the term member for participants, but user pages is a wiki term, explained on this page.

What are user pages and user talk pages?
User pages are the pages that usernames link to when they appear in the wiki. All WHTwiki members have a user page connected with their username. User pages are blank until members add content. They give each member the opportunity to share with the community some information about themselves and their work, areas of knowledge, and interests.
User talk pages are pages where members can leave messages for the member associated with the user page. They provide a place for members to contact each other online to communicate about wiki projects.
How to access user pages and user talk pages
User pages
You can access members' user pages these ways:
- Click on their usernames when you see them hyperlinked in Recent Changes, New Pages, or a page's History or talk page.
- Type User:Username (with Username being the member's username) in your browser after /wiki/.
User talk pages
When you're viewing a user page, click on the Discussion link at the top of the page.
What can go on user pages
You can use your user page to let the community know about yourself. Include a little or a lot of information within these guidelines, or leave the page blank. It's your choice. Guidelines:
- WHTwiki user pages are not home pages or blogs. Neither are they for company information, press releases, or advertising. Keep them for information relevant to the WHTwiki community.
- You can describe what you do — in fact, we encourage you to — but avoid any self-promotional or advertising content.
- All WHTwiki content is to be in English only, including user page and user talk page content.
Keep in mind that all WHTwiki content is freely available under the Creative Commons License.
While it's possible to write and edit other members' user pages, it isn't considered polite to do so. Be sure to use members' user talk pages to communicate with them.
The following headings and items are to provide ideas for user pages. You are not limited to these types of content or required to use any of them. However, if you add content to your user page, we ask you stay within the spirit of WHTwiki. Please keep your user page non-promotional and useful to other members.
