What is private label hosting?
Private label web hosting means that you resell web hosting and related services, you create your own plans and prices, and you can brand all the services as your own. Most reseller hosting providers offer private label hosting. Web hosts that aren't resellers may also use private label related services.
Features of private label hosting
Reseller hosting providers offer one or more private label features. The following is a partial list.
Private nameservers
Private nameservers (also called private name servers, private DNS servers, custom DNS servers, and private DNS) are nameservers with the name that you choose rather than your web host's nameserver name, like this:
ns1.example.com
ns2.example.com
Your domain would be where "example.com" is.
The use of private nameservers keeps the web host's name hidden and allows you to brand the services you resell with your company name. Most reseller hosting providers offer private nameservers.
Unbranded control panels
Even with private nameservers, your clients will know that you're a web host reseller if the control panel you provide for them is branded with your web host's name. Many web hosts offering web hosting reseller packages have unbranded control panels for their resellers.
Anonymous support
The majority of web hosts that offer reseller hosting do not offer support services to your clients, only to you directly. However, some web hosts do offer anonymous support for their resellers' clients as part of their private label package.
Domain name registration
Most web host resellers offer domain name registration through a domain name reseller account. Some web hosts that offer private label hosting also offer private label domain name registration. Resellers can offer domain name registration at their sites, and the name of the web host never appears when people register domain names.
