History

The NetEarth registrar brand has been around for over 10 years, starting in 1997 when the company obtained Nominet membership allowing them to register .uk domains directly with the .uk registry, Nominet. In 1998, NetEarth took over another domain name registrar with Nominet accreditation to enhance their existing domain name portfolio.

During 2000 NetEarth joined the DNSO (Domain Name Supporting Organisation) which was under the direction of ICANN.

ICANN accreditation

After nearly 10 years of successfully registering domain names for their clients, the company obtained ICANN accreditation in early 2007; allowing them to register domain names directly with their associated registries, including VeriSign, without the need to go through a 3rd party ICANN accredited registrar. NetEarth originally used the LogicBoxes domain name registration platform after obtaining ICANN accreditation, however they are now actively developing their own platform to be released in mid-to-late 2009 (citation needed.)

Retail and reseller services

With their newly acquired ICANN accreditation, NetEarth One soon setup their online website allowing them to offer domain names through the LogicBoxes platform control panel interface to their retail customers. The company also setup a reseller scheme which has proved popular with many of their reseller customers; enabling them to register domains under NetEarth One's ICANN accreditation without a large upfront investment. Similar to other reseller schemes offered by other companies, resellers are able to provide a wide range of services through one debit account including domain names, SSL certificates, web hosting, DNS services, e-mail and a range of other web-related services.

The company's reseller scheme also allows resellers to decrease their wholesale pricing through the use of multiple pricing tiers; these tiers determine the price the reseller pays for their services. One can decrease their wholesale cost by increasing the initial deposit made with the company, or increase their total receipts by activating or purchasing more services.

Future developments

New platform

During Q3 2009, NEO hopes to launch their new domain name registration and services platform to replace their existing LogicBoxes control panel for their end-users and resellers. The platform will continue to be backwards compatible with the existing LogicBoxes API interface for resellers and customers who use it, but will offer additional functionality that is currently not available within the LogicBoxes platform, either through the online interface or through a propriety API.

New top level domains

In addition to the company's current portfolio of available top-level domain ("TLD") names, NEO will be adding a number of other TLDs during 2009 including .EU, .CA, .FR, .BE, .DE and .WS which will be registered directly with the associated TLD registry without the need of a 3rd party registrar.
