DDoS is an acronym for Distributed Denial of Service attack. This is a type of denial of service attack, or DoS, whereby the attacker uses a large number of compromised systems to attack a single target. DDoS attacks are usually carried out by sending the victim tons of external communication requests forcing the victim to consume its bandwidth resources or making it unavailable.
