Cpanel Backup Restore
Backup restore is done when the hard drive has crashed, has been hacked, or is having lot of disk errors. Here are the backup restore steps:
- NOC tech will install the OS and cPanel in a new drive. Also, the backup drive will be mounted.
- Make sure that the settings in WHM >> Basic cPanel/WHM Setup (such as the main IP, nameservers etc.) are correct, or else accounts will be created with the wrong details.
- Secure the server and Configure PHP/Apache/Mysql the same as the old server.
- Correct the Hostname entries in /etc/hosts.
- Configure Backup (WHM>> Main >> Backup >> Configure Backup):
- Backup Status (restore only)
- Backup Interval (daily — if restoring from daily)
- Backup Destination (/backup old backup drive) — sometimes NOC mounts it as /old_backup; in such cases change it to /old_backup
- Incremental Backup (if the accounts are not listing at WHM >> Main >> Backup >> Restore Multiple Backups, make sure that incremental method is enabled in backup configuration)
- Start Restore from WHM >> Main >> Backup >> Restore Multiple Backups.
- After some accounts are restored, make sure that the sites are working. :)
