Category:Cloud Computing
This category covers software for deploying virtualized infrastructure that would be classified as public cloud computing. Public clouds are those virtualized hosted environments that allow users to purchase computing capacity based on usage. Public clouds have the following characteristics:
- Elastic and Scalable - Resources can be allocated to meet demand and reduced during less peak time.
- API - The cloud should have a API that gives user a standard interface to orchestrate events in the cloud e.g. create, clone, destroy virtual instance.
- Self Service Provisioining - Users can provision instances with defined service offerings. Conversely they can easily shutdown those instances.
Usage Metering - The capability exists for metering resource usage for the purposes of billing.
