Company history
Abacus America Inc., d.b.a. Aplus.Net, was founded in 1992 by Ivan and Lilian Vachovsky in San Diego, California. Aplus.Net began offering online services with the Internet’s commercial start in 1995. Aplus.Net was one of the first companies to be receive accreditation by ICANN as an independent domain name registrar.
Aplus.Net was acquired on July 25, 2006. Catalyst Investors, a New York based private equity fund, owns a majority of the company.
In August, 2006, Aplus.Net opened a second data center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In February, 2007, the corporate headquarters moved from San Diego, CA to Overland Park, KS. Aplus.Net maintains a sales office and a data center in San Diego.
On August 21, 2007, Aplus.Net announced the acquisition of New York-based web design firm WebImage.com.
