Hello,
I am not 100% certain since there is not really evidence in the log files of how these files were removed. But it was most likely due to the PHP Nuke CMS installations on the account.
Unfortunately the account was not in our backup rotation due to inode usage:

Fortunately you kept your own backup. There is a thin line on what hosts allow now-a-days as far as quotas. And if they take you out of the backup rotation because of inode usage isn't right. Before they did this you should have been notified and given a chance to either right the wrong or upgrade your account/switch providers.
Best of luck

Sorry to hear about your issues with hostgator, they definitely should have given you a warning or notice letting you know that your account was taken out of the back-up rotation. At least you were smart and had your own set of back-ups!

Hostgator is considered as top hosting provider. I really doubt phpnuke CMS installation on a cpanel account will delete addon domains folder.

I'm sorry to hear about that, but they should provide you a little bit more information on this. If there is no records of file being deleted, how were the files removed? Did a technician made a mistake and removed your data by an accident?
I would contact them again and find out what has exactly happened, because installing PHP Nuke should not delete data from your service.

That's not quite so black and white. Their policy regarding inodes and backups is clearly detailed in the TOS, so, in theory, the customer should be aware of it.

They were probably supposing that through PHP Nuke someone gained access to the files on the account.

i was checking innodes status on my cpanel and walways was under the limmit... this is theis answer after ia sked for more infos
I am very sorry, there simply is no evidence in the logs that shows how the files were removed. Because the Apache logs rotate quickly, if the issue were to come through HTTP it is unlikely that the evidence would still be in the logs. This leads us to believe that this was the likely means of removal.

Were you regularly updating your PHP Nuke installations? Outdated scripts can easily allow hackers to gain access to your account to mess things around.
