What do you want to do with the phone?
To me that is the primary question to ask yourself, then compare phones that do what your needs are.
For me I need a high end phone that works as close to the abilities of a laptop as I can get, phone calls are secondary to me.
I found the Nokia N900 and it fulfills that need better than anything else on the market.
If entertainment was a primary need I would get an Iphone.
If big screen with all around ability was a need I would go with the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S.

Only had my Droid 2 for a couple days but I'm impressed. I've had an iphone previously, though apples look is more "polished", i think I like the droids better.

The main reason I'm not using an N900 any longer is the extremely poor mail client - it can take 5-10 seconds to open up a single message with an exchange server. Not acceptable when other phones do this instantly.
In any case, I would recommend an Android device, and generally don't recommend AT&T.

Seconded
If you're after a real phone with decent update tech and applications, then go with the iPhone, seriously! You're on the network for it, get what you can

I'd suggest the iPhone
And why are you forcing print to be a function in your forum signature? :p

The email client does leave a bit to be desired for sure.
But if you update to PR1.3 and install swaplube that lag goes away.
I was getting frustrated by it also, but they addressed that in PR1.3 now mine opens instantly, I have a DesireHD and doing a side by side test the same mail gets to both of them and opens as fast on both now, probably a little faster now on the N900 than the droid.

Yeah, I use both the iPhone4 and HTC Desire.
Both great phones. We're spoiled for choice these days.
Just got the Darth Vader voice pack for my Tom Tom GPS app on the iPhone4. That's a total win!
