Something to be worried about? cron jobs and .pl scripts

I've noticed that when I check CPU usage (system health in WHM) that one of my clients is continually running 1 and sometimes up to 3 process of a scripts. He has set up 3 cron jobs in his CPanel. In the start of this scripts is written that it continually tries to register domains at and it also uses starttime.dat, stoptime.dat, crontab.dat, index.cgi and a file.

Can anybody here enlighten me? - is there anything to be worried about? - I just thought that if several clients did the same it would cause problems with server load. I don't know if I should tell him to stop using this script on the server. Any advice is gratefully received.

Nobody knows - this guys script is running constantly on the server. I would just like to know if this is normal and if other hosts would allow this.

Why don't you look at the scripts to see what they are doing or if you don't understand the programming language email the customer?

Maybe you should also create a policy against running background processes or executing server intense scripts consistently? If this happens again then you won't have to think twice about issues like this.

A little common sense doesn't hurt.

i was under the (i'll admit uninformed) impression that this was illegal? it sounds like it's just a script to try beat others out to register domains, etc... anyhow, if it's eating resources, etc.. you may also want to check with Enom to find out their policy on such things if you want to have additional leverage to shut him down if necessary?
