Windows VPS - Educational
Hello,
Could someone recommend a cheap Windows VPS for the purpose of educational purpose? Preferably below USD 10.
The reason behind this is because I need to install Oracle 9i which, I only have the installation CD for Windows.
Thanks in advanced!

You're not going to get a legitimately licensed windows for under 10.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/da...ads/index.html has 10g/11g for all OS's, isn't 9 a bit dated?

Oh yes, I did forget to mention. I'm a legit student therefore I could obtain a Student license for Windows 2008 RC2.
Our instructor uses 9i, and our materials are based on 9i. He told us "Learning 9i would meant that you could work on legacy database. 10g and 11g should be no problem for you either."
And.. I couldn't really find a Linux Oracle 9i...

IIRC, most providers are already licensed per-physical-cpu-node so you would be taking up a spot meant for someone where profit counts have already counted in the split cost of license, and I don't know if student editions are allowed for external hosting.

They are on livechat all the time they **Might** be able to do something even though I'm convinced that $20 is a good price for a Windows VPS

I read somewhere you could install windows on Xen HVM VPS using your own license.
But i'm not really sure, since i never done that before.

I've used them; they're pretty decent.
Not the fastest I've seen, but that can be expected at the price point.

Also you can order a Xen HVM VPS and install the trial version of Windows OS. It should be OK for education.

@Seeyabye - have you found any cheap host that will support own windows license/trial license? I am also looking for the same.

@mihir,
Unfortunately, the only ones that offers less than $10 are NordicVPS and ThrustVPS with 512GB of RAM. Practically, having less than 512MB is not a good thing for windows vps. I've not decided to buy yet. I guess I'll just use a VM.
