DNS Setup Question

I have a VPS (mydomain.com) set up running WHM/cPanel with the DNS clustered to 2 machines running cPanel DNS Only. I have set up the DNS Servers with hosts of DNS1 and DNS2. DNS1 has the nameservers dns1 and dns3 while DNS2 has dns2 and dns4.mydomain.com. I has tested the DNS using intoDNS.com and it gives me errors with the "Parent" name servers. Where or how do I update these settings?

Please visit your domain registrar and enter the "Host Summary with IPs" or "name servers entries with IPs" (IPs must be same as your entered into cPanel) into the control panel of your domain registrar. After a few hrs the parent servers will update their records.

Good that you got it working, I was just wondering what is the reason for using two dns on the same server? (DNS1/DNS3) and (DNS2/DNS4) wouldn't it be the same just to use DNS1 and DNS2.

Atra, cPanel DNS Only requires each server to have 2 IPs and as I am running 2 machines each with cPanel DNS Only I have to have 4 IPs total so I just set up 4 but yes they do work like 2.

Hmm.. require two ips for each dns server? We have been using cpanel's dns clustering long time with only setting up one ip per dns server.

Ok well it may not be required but it does ask for 2

It means the 1 IP for each of your slave VPSs - Not 2 IPs on each slave

But you're missing a trick. Better you have:

NS1 - Any IP on your main VPS
NS2 - The single IP of slave 1
NS3 - The single IP of slave 2

You can ditch the extra IP on each slave, and have more redundancy using the above.
