Intel Crystal Forest a Game Changer for Data Centers?
Yesterday and today there have been a lot of articles about the new Intel Crystal Forest Chipset and its move to focus more on the networking end of things. Some expect this to have a large impact on data centers. What do all of you think?
It's an interesting direction, especially with their acquisition of IB from QLogic a few weeks ago. How do you think Crystal Forest w/ Cave Creek will compare against the upcoming Romley w/ Patsburg? As far as I've heard the former has some advantages over the latter when it comes to data center utilization – supports PCIe Gen2 interconnect and Intel QuickAssist.Colin Cronin, Chief Marketing Nerd
