managed or un managed vps??

Hi Guys , this is my first post in this forum

i am planning to purchase vps hosting from "virpus" and i want to know is it easy to manage the un-managed vps when i get cpanel installed on it?and deal with it like shared hosting .

or get fully managed vps with cpanel??

(cpanel+un managed vps)= (easy to manage without the need to get fully managed vps)
is this true?

please help here, i am a total newbie about vps and linux sever administration

unmanaged vps+Kloxo=just as easy to manage and cheaper, too. That's just from my personal experience.

Virpus sounds like a good deal with their first month managed offer because basically you would have your vps set up in the first month and after that you just concentrate on developing your website. I would have bought one from them if I am not already overloaded with vpses which I bought for testing purposes.

If your a total newbie I would consider a fully managed VPS to save yourself some headaches.

You are right. The unmanaged vpses I am testing did give me some headaches. However I consider the cost of the aspirins offset by the increase in knowledge and experience. But then again, I am the type that thrives on challenges. Besides, I started way back when everything is done from the command line. Like in cp/m. At the time when Bill Gates was still an unknown schoolboy.

I agree with this. Go for cpanel + managed vps.

You'd best be off going with a managed VPS since you will run into problems or have some questions that you are not familiar with. A managed host will be there to hold your back to help you whenever you do face things you're not familiar with.

unmanaged vps. you can study,it's not as hard as you think.
a managed vps, your site still get hacked.no one is going Securing + updating /24hrs to your site but yourself.
the best is, you do it yourself,it's your baby, you should take care by yourself

I look at it this way. There is one and only one support staff I can really depend on 24/7/365. And that's me and myself. That's why I spend the time and effort and money to learn how to manage my own vps.

I'm totally agreed with OldMan.
You may get a cheap VPS to learn and manage yourself before you go further

If you know how to work with cPanel itself, you will practically does not need any management plan other than remote backup.
