Prices

So I'm new into colocating and want to know how it works out and the price of it.

Say if I have a server size of a regular computer, now how much would it cost to colocate this server?

With colocating how do they price you do they just charge you a random amount of money or depending on.how much, bandwidth I use? Also and if i need the server to be rebooted do they charge from that what the avrage price foe rwboots? $100 I was told from a friend.

That should be about it. Most data centers provide free reboots or remote reboot port. So if you say you have a server size of a regular computer then probably its a 4U and would not take too much power (depending on your config)

Although more and more providers seem to offer free basic remote hands (reboots, ect), it's still not 'commonplace' in my experience. These are questions you'll want to ask any prospective provider and not make any assumptions.

Definitely check with the provider on remote hands, because they are all different. For reboots, it's common to have a reboot port, so you can initiate instant reboots yourself. A regular size tower case, when laid on it's side, is equivalent to a 4U server, so that's what you will want to look for. $100 is a good guess per month for pricing on that, but prices will vary depending on how much bandwidth and power you need.

Is there a specific geographic location you are looking for?

Most providers won't charge you for reboot, but some do.

Most providers will charge to provide other hands-on maintenance services such as connecting a monitor and troubleshooting, but smaller providers may provide that service at no charge.

Most providers will charge you for a 4U (for tower to lay on its site) and some may charge you per server.

The cost is about $100 per month depending on the bandwidth and power needs.

Hope this helps,
Bernard
