Installing Remote Desktop on Ubuntu

I have ubuntu 10 LAMP so I installed ubuntu desktop. When I first connect to vnc I get 3 error popups saying
Quote:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet".
Quote:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet".
Quote:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_IndicatorApplet".
All 3 ask if I want to delete but I selected no. I can't run any programs

Is there a specific reason you need to vnc into the ubuntu box? The only real reason to VNC would be for a graphic view of the desktop instead of using ssh for command line use.

If that's a remote server, you could consider using NX instead of VNC, as it gets along with less bandwidth.
