RDP windows server and HDD limited speed per user
Hey bros,
I have a problem with HDD speed on the windows server 2008 standard.
I need any software or any function on the windows server manager to limit speed per user. users access by remote deskop)
On the server is about 10 ppls that use programs as a winrar etc...and i need limit HDD speed per an one user, for example whole the HDD has about 180MB/s speed for all user (shared).
Can i limit for every user limit speed to 30MB/s only?
its like a 30MB/s + 30MB/s + 30MB/s + 30MB/s + 30MB/s = 150MB/s = 5 users = its optimal for good work on the server without lags.
Very thanks for answer.
Regards.

The quick answer is no, or not easily. Your best bet is to put them on VPS and then limit from there.

Only if you use VMware ESX/ESXI, and create one virtual server per user. Then, you can specify the limits/priority per virtual disk (and CPU Mhz limit also).

Agreed, your only option is going to be setting up VM's and fully isolating your users that way.

You need a I/O request schedulers, I am used to them in linux kernel, but I am not thinking it's possible in W2008.

Yes it can accept more that. But you will have to install it as a terminal server.

Disk bandwidth wouldn't be effectively limited like that anyhow.
For example, a magnetic disk that can read 100MB/s sequentially might only be able to read at 0.2MB/s with 4KB random reads. If you limit each user to 30MB/s and they're all trying to do small random reads, the 30MB/s limit would be far higher than the random IO performance of the disks.
