    USB Extension?

I have an all-in-one printer that connects to my computer via usb, however I need to have the printer on the other side of the room for various reasons. What can I buy to have (almost like a network switch type thing) or are there longer cables?

There are long cables that can be found at most office supply stores. You may also want to look into wireless technology.

    For reference purposes: http://www.icron.com/

Goto ebay.com and search for print server. You can use it.

Yeah there's extensions you can get, and I heard they are working on wireless USB hubs that talk over WiFi and are powered locally off of a wall adapter? That was like back in 2009 so it should be coming along.

EDIT: Aha! Keyspan (they made some semi-decent serial adapters) makes a "KEYSPAN US-4A" which is a USB server that talks over WiFi.

    Now I want one.. Hmmm..

It's like I was born slow or something. Mock me if you will; I finally got internet fax and I've joined this century. If you get a quick reply from me via a fax, it's because I used my smart phone, not because I'm working hard.

Although, I'd pay ~ $50 and get one from newegg.

I've had one for over a year... they just run. Don't have to worry if computer on... got it after I moved my server to another room (server was always on).

there could be. I think your printer could be shared through your local network if you have shared it to other computers which is on the room.

    Poor Linux... really sad OS.

When using linux, it causes odd USB hardware issues... caught a house on fire once. Linux is dangerous.
