Mchost Users - Please Read

DEAR MCHOST USERS...

Have you been tired of the MCHost Forums being unavailable such as right now for so-called maintenance (for 30-??? minutes at a shot). Been over an hour so far, and no reading or posting...

Are you tired of threads suddenly disappearing?

Tired of not knowing where you are really hosted, even though you asked multiple times to receive no real reply (if any at all)?

Tired of not knowing the real status of your server when MCHost finally replies with multiple generic excuses for the multiple downtimes you have experienced as of late???

Tired of MCHost not using their own "official reply center" mchosted.com as they state you should see before making a new ticket (many down times noted by you - MCHost never replies of such unless you pin them in a corner - then the reply is really a crap assed lie)???

Tired of not knowing the TRUE software status of your server when it comes to real security issues and hack-a-bility by script kiddies using outside scripts against your un-protected server???

Tired of seeing MCHost tell you and ME that the server was never compromised (for over a year)??? That all security is tight??? That there was never a breach in security??? Even though 64 sites were defaced as of recently...Even though MCHost states a DDOS for many servers...They simply thing that a DDOS pointed at only them is nothing to worry about...No other DC gets the DDOS, just MCHost, hmmmm....go figure.....

SIMPLY TIRED OF THE BS...

Tired of not knowing that MCHost has NOT updated your server in x amount of time and leaves your server up and running (when it is) with outdated and hackable software for x amount of months? Some scripts have not been updated since their beginnings...A quick check shows tons of outdated and insecure scripts...

Netcraft.com is a good start...Pick an IP and go for it to see the truth...

Did you know that 64 MCHosted virtual web sites have been hacked and defaced between the period of 04/13/2002 - 12/15/2002.

Did you know that MCHost installs PHPBB 2.0.0 as a default script even though 2.0.3 is the defacto standard for not being hacked (PHPBB 2.0.3 was released on September 30, 2002).

Did you know that the most hacked script on MCHost servers is PHPBB 2.0.0? Most of the hacked and defaced web sites are by using the flaws currently in PHPBB 2.0.0.

Has one of your clients been hacked by a script kiddie who defaced your client's web page and you have yet to notice?

If so, go here to learn more - http://host-status.com

Note to Kiwi - if you decide to reply to this post, think twice...I have given you many opportunities to you in the last couple of weeks, plus and then some - and you simply missed them being gullable and stupid as you are...as usual...instead of wasting your time replying to this post, just fix the real issues...and then reply that you have fixed the issues that have been sitting for a time there at MCHost...There are tons of security web sites out there...please take the time to read them - and understand them, or else someone like me will take away your clients for real stability and security...

Maybe you should really hire someone who knows what they are doing to take on your unknown issues...

Once again, if you do not, I and others will take your clients quick and fast...

You never listen to any of the other suggestions of your other clients over the past year - plus, you go ahead and dis-regard these too and see where you get, Marc...You have already seen long time clients who have done nothing but stand by your side for the last year, and then leave you...Open up your eyes you fool...How stupid can you really be???

YOU NEED A REAL SECURITY TEAM TO HANDLE THESE ISSUES!!!!

I cannot post this to the MCHost forums right now, because it is once again, down...otherwise I would have posted there first, then here with no reply...I am just skipping a step, as it goes....

Instead, I post this here - in the hopes that the REAL issues get resolved and taken care of. And also, new customers think twice by reading a bit of the real facts going on at this host before they sign up and take these issues on for themselves and thier customers and lose tons of cash.....

If things were simply truthful, (as in "we do not know why", etc), then many issues would be easier to take and tell OUR clients. Instead, we get a half-assed, bull-**** reply that is actullay not a reply but another question by Marc to any ticket that we actually file - and such question is generally left for hours on end before it is actually answered or the server is actually brought back online!!! Hours of downtime do to no one there is a stupid excuse...That in turn is money lost on your reseller end at a major rate - when the time comes that numerous resellers ask for this rebate, you will see your effects...

Otherwise, it gets a quick half-assed reply in the forums, and then the post is deleted!

This is how questions really get resolved around MCHost...

But if the post is made here, at WHT, then a pretty reply is made VERY QUICKLY!!!! Of course, to make all sound well, and good...

Marc, those paying clients of yours and as well, those reading users of WHT are quite tired of your crap-assed replies...

Please give a real reply that we can all believe in and think good of you about...If you cannot, then do not reply at all and let us think of you the way we already see you as...

And to those of you here at WHT who want to ask why the sudden MCHost posts? Well, it has been boiling up to a solid boil with no recourse...

Maybe all those posts over at the MCHost forums that have disappearred will suddenly be rembered by Marc and all those promises he has given over the past year plus will be quckly remebered by him and made finallyu to come true...

If not, he will quickly see many old time clients such as me leave as well as many new clients NOT come in the door (as he expects) - the old out two in one philosophy.

Here at WHT, Marc's world is a pretty, pretty, place were all is good and well. In the real life, once you read the full MCHost Forum, you see the real truth of lies and crap, and complaints...

Get it straight, Marc...I've been there and would like to stay - I and others are just tired of your crap assed lies...

Keep it real and keep it honest and we may stay...Don't you get it???

If you read the dedicated forum here on WHT you will see DV2 is having issues tonight and working on routers, supposed to be down for about 8 hours on and off all night.

I believe most of MCHost's servers are at DV2.

Vienna is not located at DV2 and the best and only answer in the last 48hrs ive gotten from Marc was we cant get hold of the datacentre staff and dont know what the problem is or how long till its resolved.

I for one am now looking elsewhere, not a ggod time to have to move providers though!

OK well I am not familer where all their servers are just thought I would throw that out in case that was the issue of being down now. There was not much notice on the down time I only had time to post about it in our backup forum not to send an email to all my customers myself.

One of the most attractive things about MCHost used to be the forum - helpful people making a real contribution and a source of information and update.
For almost a year now that situation has changed and it has become a forum of complaint. I would say that the forum has now become a liability to MCHost - resellers become quickly aware of the extent of problems by others confirming them on the forum.
It was once the case that 24 hours would bring pages and pages of new views of interesting comment, scripts and advice - no longer, seems few have much to say except for complaints.

I'm assuming that he had to hit the servers to show that certain services were down. That would show that the network isn't the case...

If it were really problems with one of the network providers DV2 uses, then why aren't the other network connections working. I would think with multiple connections that if one had problems the others would still work. Is this not the case?

Vienna is still dead four days later WITH ABSOLUTLELY NO REPLY FROM MCHST AT MCHOSTED.COM - THE OFFICIAL MCHOST RESPONSE WEB SITE...

http://www.mchosted.com - THEN PULL UP VIENNA

vienna's current stats: HTTP FTP POP3 SMTP - ALL DOWN
http://status.mchost.com

http://www.mchosted.com/archive.php?id=28

You will also notice, that all vienna posts from the MCHosted.com web site will only work the first time you visit it. After the first time, you'll get no reply...

And lastly, http://uptime.mchost.com seems to be down also...Good luck getting your downtime credit when the official site that MCHost uses to track such downtimes is also not available to the public....

14 More sites DEFACED on 12/26/2002 at MCHOST. This surely does NOT show a good security system in place...Brut force or not...These have been by the same teams over time - block the IP and you MAY be successful...PRO-FTP 1.2.4 is outdated....Get in touch with the REAL world please....

Any more accusations coming our way? Most of these sites were owned by only a couple of resellers, which had all set the same password as the username. We just did a security audit of all our servers and there are no known security problems.

Sorry, if someone sets up all their client account johndoe.com with the username 'johndoe' and password 'johndoe', the next account lisabaker.com with username 'lisa' and password 'lisa', there is nothing we can do against that.

Before accusing us of bad security, please get the facts straight first.
