Tier-1 Bandwidth / $49 Dedicated Server
Just to be clear, the $49 Dedicated server is not on tier-1 bandwidth -- it's cogent only, correct?

timesroman,

If you cut and pasted the WHOLE header, and not only the section you wanted to, you would see:

"Colo Specials Tier-1 Bandwidth / $49 Dedicated"

The / seperates the 2.

Gotcha.

I was really excited when I read the header, but then I realized I had misread it to read something I wanted it to and the dedicated servers were just cogent. Now of course that's still a great low price... just not as exciting as I thought the heading was.

Until AOL cut off their peering with cogent, it wouldn't have been a big deal for me... But now that AOL users can't reach these with any speed, I'm not sure.

timesroman,

Cogent is working on that problem now.

Till they do get it fixed, we are putting the servers on Aleron.

So if I order a $49 server now, it will stay on tier 1 (Aleron) bandwidth forever?

fgordts,

Forevere is a long time.
We could get bought out, Aleron could go out (God, I hope this never happens), etc.

But yes, it will stay on Aleron.

Hey Serveroutsource,

I am looking for a few boxes in the southeast.

First, I want to know honestly what bandwidth you use and where you get it from.

It seems a lot of people in your area are using similar providers and are having problems because of the owners of those companies.

I want to be square on this matter before ordering any boxes.

Feel free to PM me if you would like about this issue if you don't want to post it here.

Can you quote me on a PIII with the large cache, fast hard drive, and at least a gig of memory.

Good bandwidth only.

serveit,

Currently we are putting everything on Aleron, which has there main POP at the facility we are in.
And is actually in the next cage over.

This is a direct connection to Aleron, no middle people.

We are putting everything on Aleron, until Cogent fixes there network issues.
So servers ordered right now, get a bonus that they will be on Tier-1 bandwidth, and no these server will not be switched to Cogent later on.

What speed P3, size & type of HD (IDE/SCSI) are you looking for?

Have a Happy Holiday

David

We do have a pre-configured Dual P3:

HLDS-Intel-1
http://serveroutsource.net/products/...ntel/index.htm

DUAL Intel Pentium !!! 1GHz
512MB RAM
80GB ATA-100 7200 RPM with 8MB Cache
400G Monthly Traffic
16 IP's

US$199.00 per Month
$299.00 One-Time Setup Fee

The 512MB upgrade to 1Gb would be US$70.00 One-time.

Where you looking for something larger than an 80G HD?

David
