Maxmind score?

I'm having this problem understanding (or deciding) the fraud score and risk scores from Maxmind. I have read about setting it to 2.5, but then using a free email will get you that score alone. I did have it set to 2.5 and I did notice that recent customers got rejected because they used free emails. Also I am reading about the "new score" from 0-100 but not sure how that works.

These are the setting in WHMCS I'm confused with (I use Basic minfraud service)

* "MaxMind Fraud Risk Score" - This one is set to 2.5
* "Use New Risk Score" - This I have unchecked.

If I tick the new score option, will the fraud risk score be ignored? Can I have both selected? Can someone tell me how they have this set? Or should I just increase the Fraud Risk Score to prevent it from blocking legit customers with free emails (what number to set)?

Thanks

We are setting the value between 7.50 - 10, it stops most of the fraudsters

Usually below a 3 is ok to automatically accept, I wouldn't set it higher than 4 without a manual approval. This seems to work well for me.
