Better for Affiliate: Go Thru Commission Junction or Direct with Webhost?
CJ rates seem to be higher but I heard there's way more scrubbing. Any experiences on what actually makes more money? Thanks.

I voted commission junction due to the fact you know you are 100% going to get paid!

I can't say I've ever compared the two, but back when I was using Lunarpages' affiliate program I think I did use one for a while, then the other. I was no left with any hard feelings, so it must have been an OK experience.
Even if using CJ would end up somehow hurting your net number of sales, the commission itself is often greater there than it is in the host's internal program. Also, you must really trust the host to pay you if you go for the in-house variant.

I wouldn't base it off of the money itself but more on whether I trusted the provider to pay me or not. As said above, with CJ you know you're going to get paid where as with a provider's affiliate program it can be iffy.

I would sign up directly with a well known provider.
Me and others have had issues where you are making daily sales and then they stop for a month. The instant a new cj account is made with the identicle affiliate it starts working again. This was a year ago but people are still having the issue via digitalpoint postings/

Hello,
I vote for CJ. As others have said you know that you're going to get paid for any referrals with them. You're also going to get better tracking and tools with CJ rather than the hosts program.
I also read that HostGator for example pay higher commissions to their CJ affiliates than those who signed up directly on their site.
Regards,
Jack

For the average affiliate that would be true. For the high volume affiliates their in house program pays more than the CJ one.
