How does cPanel license work for servers running on private IP (server's main IP is private), where port forwarding is done for public IP?

We've had a few customers do this but it's not the way cpanel is ment to run and alot of times you end up with little glitches here and there. cPanels policy says that the server must have a public ip attached to it. For customers wanting to run a hardware firewall we normally recommend somthing thats passive/transparent (fortigate units) or do routing accross the firewall.
