Leow | Superman Hosting - PayPal Dispute

04/08/2010 a guy called Leow comes onto Live Chat requesting a custom Reseller package.

I accepted the request and setup the Reseller account for him. He pays for the account the following day.

Yesterday he sent me a PM via WebHostingTalk with

Quote:
hi chris,

my site is down can u pls check over from your site...mr leow here.many thanx.

cant login since last nite

http://SERVER-IP-ADDRESS:2082/
I replied back with

Quote:
Hi Leow,

I see you have 6 cPanel accounts.

Please tell me which cPanel account or domain you're having trouble with and I'll look into it.

Regards,
Chris
I didn't hear anything back from him.

Today I receive an email from PayPal with

Quote:
supermanhosting has opened a dispute for the payment made on 5 Aug 2010
indicating that the item they received did not match the original
description.
In PayPal Leow left the following message

Quote:
Hosting account is down and problem not resolved...wishes to cancel a/c as does not meet requirement. instability and downtime issues.
Eh?

I just gave him a refund. We do offer a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee after all.

I don't get why he put in for a PayPal dispute though? What was all that about?

Ahh you can't please everyone...

Maybe he's found somewhere cheaper...

He maybe thought it was better to say the service was poor so he could actually get a refund, because if he really said "Hey am so happy with the hosting, however i cannot wait for a reply from my host" Paypal would of probley said walk on by...

This is normal within the web hosting industry, I wouldn't be too alarmed and it was most likely not the web hosting company's fault, rather than the client attempting to get a free ride for a few months, however I am rather shocked paypal allowed them to open a dispute 4 months after the purchase date as they usually require a dispute to be filed 90 days from purchase date.

Good Luck with your future endeavors.

If I am not wrong, he actually paid for the account a few days ago.

According to the OP, the request was made on April 08 2010 and the dispute as made August 05 2010, that would make it 3 months and 27 days +/-1 day.

Well out of the 6 cPanel accounts he had hosted with us, only 2 of them had content. The domains weren't even pointing to our nameservers.

If the OP used dd/mm/yyyy then the client filed a dispute 1 day before they started service with the OP. I do not think that would be possible.

I am sorry, I am a little confused about this scenario then, if the account was paid for and created on August 08 2010, and the dispute was filed on August 5th 2010 on the same year (3 days before the account was paid for and created), I am not sure how that would be possible.

Correct.

5 Aug 2010 - Leow pays for the account
12 Aug 2010 - PayPal dispute/Requests a refund

Ah, I actually misread that, I do apologize. The mixture of times and days just confused me for a second there.

Although it is great that you informed us is this not breaking your privacy policy? "We do not provide the information collected from you to any third party for any reason what-so-ever."

I don't care since it helps others but I think all privacy polices should say "We will not provide your information to anyone besides in case of a chargeback. Your site will then be sent to a web hosting fraud report site at domain.com"

They we can automatically have these clients on auto deny

No, the account was paid for and created on August 5 2010, and the dispute was filed on 12 August 2010 (TODAY).
