************ crash all images lost...

Looks like they had a major hard disk problem and lost many (all?) VPS...including mine.

They do not do backup of the images. Even a monthly backup would have been fine for what I do.

If they offer me some free hosting to make up for the time I have to spend re-configuring my new windows vps I might give then a second try. But they should soon work on some kind of image backup (even if it's one image monthly or weekly).

If anyone knows a decent Windows VPS provider with image backups in the $30/m range please let me know (I don't need much bandwidth nor disk space this is to run some windows batch programs...I do not use it as a web server).

I believe, you are with a self manages vps which could have causes this since self managed solutions generally do not have backups included. You can consider a solution with backups as addon or a fully managed solution in order to have some sort of backups in place for recovery purposes.

They are sold has managed:

I don't really care about end-user backups. I just expected a good hosting company to protect their own business by doing backup of the images in case THEIR server fails.

So far, in my research, it looks like myhosting.com does those "internal" backups if their storage dies.

This is what I'm talking about in my other thread. Failed promises.

But the company is backed-up by their TOS, with their famous statement...

"We are not liable for any loss of data for any reason. This includes VPS or dedicated servers. It is the customers responsibility to maintain backups of there data."

Come on providers! Maybe you should discuss this in your next HostingCon.
Maybe you might want to consider some serious policy for failure like this.

From what I looked at, there isn't any statement on their site that stating they will do the backup for you, please correct me if I'm wrong
