    * DNS Failover Service

    Hello WHT,

    Does anyone know of any good DNS failover providers?

    I'm currently running a small private company who does not want to use my existing infrastructure so I need a service that would do something like this

    (SERVER1)
    ns1.domain.com = 1.2.3.3
    ns2.domain.com = 1.2.3.4

    In the event of failure it should change them to

    (SERVER2)
    ns1.domain.com = 4.4.4.1
    ns2.domain.com = 4.4.4.2

    Whats the best way to go about doing this?

    Why not get a cluster of cPanel DNS Only machines which will act as failover.

    If you use the only one dn, you don't and can't set that.
    ns1, ns2, ns3, ns4... already a failover concept.
    so you can't set the two host use the same domain but different ns ip.

    You can set your ns where you reg the dn.
    usually it will support at least two ns host to serve you,
    if you set a dns server with your server,
    that you already have three ns host.
    and maybe your ISP can serve you too, so ask them.

    If you hope when server1 down and server2 take over,
    usually, that isn't ns server job.

    you cant really failover the nameservers as you ahve described. best solution is to have multiple geographically diverse nameserver and list them all. Wouldnt be a problem to list 4 or more nameservers. If one is not available systems looking for your domain will check all of the listed name servers
