I've been looking at cheap cloud servers but most are more expensive than using a dedicated server. The only cheap one I can find is 1and1. Can anyone recommend some others for me.
Thanks

hi,
This will also depend on the configuration. What configuration are you looking for?

Have you tried giga-international.com?
They have amazing packages. But the setup fee is higher than others.

GigeNET is one of the cheapest I have found @ $10/month.

I personally would have to recommend VPS.net if you want to get your money worth. Either liquid storm or vps.net

When I previously used VPS.NET it was a nightmare. Whenever I adjusted my resources it was a minimum of 30 minutes downtime which was unacceptable.

yeah, initially we (vps.net) forced a disk-rebuild as a part of an up/downgrade. We changed that months ago though, and now up/down scaling of resources are instant, and can even be automated using the autoscaling feature.

Thank you. I remember when I was using your service you had mentioned that the disk-rebuild was the cause and was being worked on but I had not read anything about that being implimented. I may consider picking up some space in your UK cloud when I expand my services.

GigaInternational is very cheap but there are too mant bad reviews for my liking.
A 1&1 cloud server is looking good for me. Its £5 per cpu core / gb memory / 100 gb space. If anyone know anything similar in price do let me know.
Thanks

4gb ram @ 160gb space for $175. They are mega expensive. Can buy two dedicated for that.

You can buy 2 dedicated servers for that but will you get the same features? What kind of scalability and redundancy will you have? Even with 2 dedicated servers with 1 setup as a failover it's still not the same redundancy you'd get from a cloud.

I want to be able to setup a server which I can upgrade the resources as and when there is demand for it. Although there are advantages to using cloud based servers I don't see the point in paying 4 times more than using a dedicated.
RackSpace
1 GB RAM
100 GB Disk
1 TB Bandwidth
$249.80
Even the Storm Cloud is cheaper, but thats still thats expensive.
Storm
1.7 GB RAM
150 GB Disk
1 TB Bandwidth
$120.00
