I've been searching for a good host for a 1gbps quad-core server in Germany (must be Germany). So far the best option seems to be NetDirekt, but I've read some irking reviews of their support. I've used Hetzner before and had some severe problems resulting from sub-par hardware and support, so I'm not eager to try them again.

What I'm trying to find is:

Dual quad-core (Xeon) or Core i7 CPU
1-2tb disk
10-12gb RAM
1gbps

Budget: $150-250.

Can anyone recommend some good German hosts?

They are believed 2 biggest dedicated server providers there. So I think you will need to choose one of them.

Hetzner should be your choice, One time hardware issue doesn't mean it will continue all the time. You should give them a try.

I don't believe Hetzner offers 1gbps connections on their EQ servers, anyway... I'd probably try them again if they did.

I heard rumours that if you ask them they may be willing to change the port speed to 1Gbit at a cost.

I have a server with keyweb.de running on a 1gbit port.

They don't advertise it on their website, but think I paid a once off 99 Euro for the upgrade.

To clearify.

If ordering 1gbit with you (hetzner) the server is allowed 10TB of traffic before its limited to 10Mbit? - Or am I mistaking?

That appears to be correct mazedk as I just looked at the website.

Then after that it's 6.9 Euro per every 1TB if you choose to buy more I think.

Pity they don't have an option to just add like 5TB,10TB,15TB more each month.

Also the 149 Euro setup fee seems a bit high :/

yes the server is allowed 10 TB. But it is not limmited to 10 MBit. We will charge overusage, if the traffic is above 10 TByte.

There is a setup fee yes, but on the other side, the monthly price is pretty low, and you will surely gain more out of this than having no setup fee and a higher monthly fee
