Leasing Company - What a Pain!
Evening WHT,
The last week or so we have been going around trying to find a leasing company that is willing to work with us. We are a Canadian based company but the equipment would be located in the United States. The issue we are having is none of them are/can work with a Canadian based company even though the equipment will be located in the United States. We have spoke with a total of 4 leasing companies in the United States but we are afraid if we contact a Canadian based company they will say the same since the equipment won't be located in Canada. We also do not want a hardware company that will do leasing on there part as we are already happy with ICC and RackmountsETC.
I am hitting a brick wall at the moment.

Leasing for foreigner's is hard for finding. May be opening new company or branch in USA does help in your case.

A lot of the more flexible leasing companies in Canada got gobbled up in 2008-2009 by the big boys, not a lot of options left. Our old leasing co. got bought out by MCap, who then wouldn't even look at any lease less than 1 mill ;P
Most everything left is either tied to the hardware sale, or wont let it leave the country (harder for them to reposes should you default).

Ouch, so I am not the only one. It may be time to look for a hardware vendor that is willing to do a lease on there end ?

Have you tried Sharedlayer? They've been around awhile and may work with you (unless you've already contacted them that is).

Shared Layer is a dedicated server provider... they have no use for us considering we have our own space inside selected data centers.

Maybe a bank loan could be another option.

As far as I know, even if you incorporate in the United States, the banks are more than likely going to ask you for a personal guarantee, which you won't be able to provide unless you have a social security number or an investor in the states that would be willing to serve as the personal guarantee.

You don't mention what you're leasing or how much equipment, but maybe an alternative would be sourcing your equipment through a company like Dell or IBM that typically has an in-house leasing arm

Dell Leasing is not all that happy about purchasing in Canada and colocating in the USA.
I also had some serious issues as a Canadian company trying to purchase through Dell USA. And Dell USA won't provide financing to a Canadian company.
Just my experience.
Now, I am interested in what XFactorServers has found. I am buying hardware with cash and it eats into working cap big time.
