    Web site monitoring

    Hello,
Does anyone use a web-site monitoring service?
Could You please write me a good one and tell how much traffic does monitoring take?

I user http://www.hyperspin.com/en/ personally. Easy interface, they have both free and paid services.

Typical monitoring shouldn't take much traffic, but it depends on what you're monitoring. If you're monitoring your front page, every minute, and you have a lots of large images on your front page, it will take more.

If you're monitoring ping, the traffic won't likely be noticeable.

Been using Alertra.com since 2002. Maybe not the cheapest, but it works well, and that's what's most important.

To me Pingdom is the best and you can get a free account: https://www.pingdom.com/signup/submit/

This free account allows 1 minute check unlike others.

Just multiply the size of the page by the number times the page is fetched in a day or month, etc.

I highly recommend pingdom, as said above they have a free acount too, plus publicly viewable uptime reports, dynamicly created images which you can show off your uptime etc.

We just signed up with AlertSite, which we met at Interop. Very friendly staff, great console, pretty cheap too. They're at the right level when you want detailed monitoring from multiple backbones with great analytics (incl page load cascades) but are not willing to pay Keynote-like fees. They also have a Firefox plug-in that lets you program your test scripts intuitively.

Will report back after a few months of deeper usage, but so far I am impressed.

I'd also recommend Pingdom. If you have want to monitor many sites, you could also consider setting up your own monitoring server, using software like nagios.
