    Reporting Bandwidth Graphs

    Hi,

I would like to ask a simple question for some people on here,

I have colocation space and I currently log onto their control panel which in return shows me my monthly bandwidth usage

what i'm after is how is this done? we can i pass this onto my customers from a port to port basic?

what hardware / software would i need to do this?

You would need a switch support SNMP and a server where Cacti/MRTG is installed.

A nice alternative to MRTG is RTG. Much easier to install and manage. It also shows data in near real-time.

Please note: I no longer work for digital.forest in Seattle, WA, as I left them in early 2010 to pursue an amazing opportunity at an amazing datacenter project elsewhere... I do not speak for digital.forest here. However I still know they provide the best colocation in the Pacific Northwest.

Go with Cacti. If you are setting up a dedicated box use the CactiEZ ISO and you are up in 15 minutes. Cacti has an export graph feature that you can port to other places and link to from your customer control panels and such.

Another vote for cactiez. We have around 2500 devices and it works great.
