Level 2/3 Support Engineer at Windows Hosting Company
We are currently seeking exceptional candidates for a remote, contract "Support Engineer" position at ActiveHost Corporation.

Customers know they contact us and have their issue taken care of by quickly and by an expert, not a level 1 technician who only knows how to configure Outlook.
Description
The purpose of the Support Engineer position at ActiveHost is very simple: do everything you can to help the customer fix their issue. This involves taking often challenging technical issues from the customer through phone or email and doing everything that is necessary to resolve the issue quickly and professionally. You will be expected to handle all Level 1-3 issues and your day will have a mix of all kinds of different support requests. If for some reason you find yourself stumped on a ticket, our Systems Administrators are always there to empower you with any knowledge you need to fix the issue.
As someone new to our organization, you will go through extensive training involving one on one training and real-world simulations.
All Support Engineers at ActiveHost Require:
- US Based residency with solid communication skills
- A customer oriented mindset that will "go to bat" for each and every customer
- A natural love for technology that is reflected in your professional and personal life
- A natural drive to learn technologies you aren't familiar with
- A methodical mindset towards troubleshooting issues
- Knowledge about exactly how the Internet Works (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, etc..)
- A quiet home office
- Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008 Configuration and Troubleshooting (Services, NTFS Permissions, etc..) at the MCSA level
- Basic programming fundamentals to assist in code troubleshooting
- Knowledge of how web servers and email servers work
An ideal candidate also has expertise in:
- Plesk
- ASP.NET
- Virtuozzo
- Hyper-V
- Powershell
- SmarterMail
- WHMCS
- Parallels Business Automation Standard
- Linux and the LAMP Stack
Candidates will be interviewed via a Skype conference call (preferably with video). Please be prepared to answer very technical and thought provoking questions. Those candidates who meet our requirements will then go through a real world simulation that will give us a good idea of your technical aptitude and your ability to troubleshoot scenarios you aren't familiar with.
