I think word of mouth is the favorite around here.
There are tons of hosting directories, so I would definitely submit to those. Its an ongoingggg process too!!
Banner ads...Ive not had alot of luck with but I do think they are good for getting your name noticed..so if I find reasonable pricing on them I will run one.
Just my opinions

Oh there are tons of directories...there is a good listing from yahoo...just do a search there for host directories.
