Need an American - US Route Planning

    Hello,

I need what can only be described as an 'American' who can assist with some route planning.

My intentions are to cycle the US, coast to coast - a whole 3,300 miles and I need someone who can spare just an hour or so in helping with my route. I have managed to get from Jacksonville, FL to Chicago and down to Las Vegas and now I need to route myself from Las Vegas to San Diego.

Looking for urgent assistance on this. Thanks.

I'd suggest contacted a bicycling forum, or club in the US. I'm in one called club Tread. I'd try contacting someone there for help: http://www.treadheadcycling.com

Specifically here: http://www.treadheadcycling.com/routes/ you can map your own route using the "Map My Ride" site.

Have looked at and multiple other US cycling websites. None seem geared to this kind of epic challenge I'm afraid

    Have you looked at http://maps.google.com/maps?hq=http:...icycle%20route

Google lists all the various bike routes based on any address you input.

I just mapped a Boston Mas to San Diego Calf here: http://maps.google.com/maps?hq=http:...icycle%20route

    Pretty neat.

I already mapped it out my route. Here's a view:

The problem I'm having is, I've planned from Jax, up to Chicago and down to Las Vegas but given LV's location - I'm struggling to find a hotel/motel that's budget but reasonable within 100 miles on my route (heading in the direction, don't mind coming back on myself as long as the next hotel is within 100 miles).

Based on where your map is headed, you MIGHT be able to hit Barstow, CA coming out of NV. That would be the closest I can think of, coming from that area.

Be careful going over the Tehachapi Mountains though, that ride is a bear for even cars...

Then out of Barstow, Bakersfield is your best bet, then head south along 99/I5 into LA, then keep going into SD
