Hi

I have always avoided running services I don't need like DNS and mail by opting to use the services provided by my host.

But, my latest VPS I'm looking at doesn't provide DNS. And I have an increasing number of domains I need mail on and e-mail hosting is adding up.

If I let WHM manage my server is it safe to assume it will keep DNS, and more importantly, mail secure enough?

I don't see why not - Named and NSD (nameservers) are maintained separately from cPanel (i.e. not by cPanel) as is Exim/Courier/etc...

How secure your system is really depends on what you do to secure it and if you keep things up to date.
