In need of your opinion -- Came up with two solutions and trying to save money
Hi everyone!
I am on a tight budget right now, came up with two solutions, and need your opinion.
From your experience, I hope you can advise me on which approach you would take and if any risk are involved?
1)
Managed VPS (HostV)
8-Core Intel Xeon CPUs
1024 MB RAM
200 GB Hardrive
4000 GB Bandwidth
$130 /mo.
-OR-
2)
Unmanaged VPS (FDCserver) with 3rd party server management
2GB RAM
1TB HDD
100Mbps unmetered
$100 /mo.
$30 /mo. for server management (platinumservermanagement)
Thanks in advance,
MilkTea

Quite hard to advise as there are so many different levels of server managment these days, and you could be getting two completely different levels of managment.
I would take a look around for reviews on each provider and see what comes back, then make a decision based on that.

What are you wanting the VPS for - what do you plan on doing with it?

Realistically I'd probably choose a small dedicated server for around the same price but whether those solutions will work for you or not depends on whether they can actually allocate you what they're promising - only one way to find out

What processor does the dedicated server have?
Take in mind that in a VPS you share those 8 cores with 30 or more nodes usually.
Edit: Nevermind, I saw that both are VPS. Get an small dedicated server as Mike advised, you can get one for the same price.
