Question

Difference between DNS and PNS?

I know what DNS is, but what is it when the host is showing PNS?

Haven't heard of PNS either, so I'll ask too; what is PNS?

I guess it would help to know in what context it was used.
Maybe a typo?

Hmm, never heard of "PNS". Maybe they are using it as an acronym for primary nameserver?

Well, let me explain and show you and tell me what you think.

First, as some of you know I was one of the victims of the daredevilhosting scam that hurt a lot of people. The daredevilehosting website is still up running the scam so Ive been monitering their whois to look for some change.

Domain Name: DAREDEVILHOSTING.COM
Registrar: NAME.COM LLC
Whois Server: whois.name.com
Referral URL: http://www.name.com
Name Server: PNS1.DAREDEVILHOSTING.COM
Name Server: PNS2.DAREDEVILHOSTING.COM

It use to be DNS, now I notice its PNS. Whats that?

Well, I wonder I haven't heard about PNS still lol. It has increased my curiosity to know about PNS but still I guess might be Primary NameServers.

They can sometimes trace to the DC provider and so on, so never trust the checks.

People can put whatever they want as the nameserver, it doesn't have to be a NS entry, it could be BOB or WATER.

It has no real meaning.

They can use xyz pns or anything they want in the host name of the server. It means something to them, in their internal server naming convention, but it's of no concern to anyone else, other than the fact that it's different than it used to be. As someone else suggested, maybe its primary name server, but it could just as well mean Peoria name server.
