Nameserver question

Hi,

I ordered my VPS but my domain name that I registered my VPS with is with another host. So obviously I have to update the nameserver options there.

How can i find out what my nameserver settings on my vps?

You can edit the zone or DB file in /var/named/[domain-name].db

do you try to forward the domain to your vps (so it became a nameserver for it) or just change the A record so if somebody puts it in the browser it redirects him to website on your vps ?

Hi,

This is where I am now.

I logged into my account where my domain is (it is not the host where my VPS is) and I've created a DNS entry of hostname. I named it vps.vegtelenhatarok.com, and I also assigned the IP of my VPS to it.

I've created DNS entries for new nameservers of my domain, these are:
ns1.vegtelenhatarok.com
ns2.vegtelenhatarok.com

I've logged in my VPs and changed the hostname to vps.vegtelenhatarok.com

If I1ve done everything right now I only have to change the nameserver settings in my VPS, but I'm not sure where. In webmin I guess it's the "BIND DNS Server" option, but i'm not sure what to do here.

Any help is appreciated
Thanks

are you going to use a lot of sub domains for this account, probably it is easier to leave it at the original nameservers if they have anything that will let you set up an A record. If you need or want to have your own dns server here is a quick link on how to complete the process using webmin
