Very simple reseller question!
Hi all,
I am based in the UK and want to sell hosting packages as a reseller! All I was wondering is if it is acceptable to use a overseas (USA) reseller hosting account? I have found a nice hosting package on hostgator and have herd good reviews on this company but I just wanted to check if it was acceptable before i purchased the account!
Thanks

yup, perfectly ok
Please read hostgator terms of service policy and other bits and pieces, as a reseller you are resoniable for the content of which your customers decide to host.
Also take into consideration the time differances
Regards

Hello,
I'm also from the UK and use HostGator’s reseller plan. I think it's one of the best reseller plans because HostGator have fantastic support, servers and the plan comes with everything you need. By far the best bonus is that their plans come with WHMCS (amazing billing and support software).
You are likely to get customers from the USA which means that you should expect to get support requests during the early morning from time to time.

Yes, it is fine. It doesn't matter whether the servers are. However, there are factors such as whether an overseas servers would be slower for your visitors in the UK. When using an overseas server, do test out the speeds first. I'm based in Singapore, and often, a host that is claimed as fast in WHT may be slow when trying to access it on my own.

In general you have to look at (or make a calculated guess) your customers geo-locations; if most of the customers come from europe; it is really a lot faster to have your hosting in europe; if you have a mix of customers ; it might be a good idea to have your server in the middle (i.e. east coast USA); if most are in the US; the location might not be of much importance to you.
Keep in mind; that round ping times in europe would be somewhere around <40ms for each package send; and towards the US this will be >90ms depending on the location.
Make sure you do some tests; and you will clearly see the differences. That said the US can be a great place to start our with a reseller plan.

That should be just fine. You should of course check with hostgator first if you feel the need to.

Dont forget the market in the US is huge the UK would easily fit into Texas alone, the US is where i would be targeting my main efforts and if you pick up some customers from the UK then that's a bonus, also with the exchange rate you can pick up some really cheap reseller packages i have all my hosting from the US even though i live in the UK.

Using over seas is fine, I would actually say that most people do it.
Just be aware their support could be based around US time, although most are 24/7
Also a good rule of thumb is have the server close to the visitors, but not always possible when your selling to the "internet". However if your advertising locally I would go for the UK

We have reseller hosting accounts on overseas servers(US). The speed is slower as our country of course. And some times the support(and speed of the servers) may a little slower because of the time zones are different. But the plan features are more rich and the prices are cheaper. If you could not find a reliable reseller hosting as your needs on your country when you can buy a reseller hosting from US. Good luck.

It is always better to have server located where your customer resides.

HG has a lot of nice addons to their reseller packages. I would definitely look at the Terms of Service first though.

Haven't checked in a good while, but there were/are companies that will do your off-hours support for you if you want.
