What lies in a name? Not much, really. You “build” your name in web hosting. People won’t choose your company because of the name. Well yes actually, but not for the actual name, but for the reputation which lies behind that name.
Below are a few points to keep in mind when choosing a name for your web hosting business:
1. CHOOSE A DOMAIN NAME WHICH HAS BEEN “AROUND” FOR SOME TIME
2. GET AN SEO FRIENDLY DOMAIN NAME
3. GO WITH A DOMAIN NAME THAT IS NOT EASILY MISTAKEN

Find a name with "host" in it.

Try to google domain name suggestions, put there some words like "host" and they will search you available domains.

Think about the services you would like to offer, the advantages you can offer, and use a thesaurus until you get something that is still available.

Yes, you need to buy your name recognition so any name will do. But a catchy easy to remember name has lots of benefits too.

What are you going to be offering? Dedi's? VPSes? Shared/Resellers/MR's? Sometimes it can have alot to do with what name you choose.

GoDaddy is a big name, I don't see any host, domain or registrar suffixed or prefixed to their name. It isn't necessary that you add any "host" to your name, just go for one that is catchy and easy to remember. Or else go for a name which has terms related to the industry, like RackSpace.

Whatever name you choose, make it simple and easy to spell. I have seen many that are pretty complicated...I don't know how anyone finds them or remembers the name. Definitely going with one with "host" in it is a good idea.

I agree that the name should be simple to spell, because word of mouth can occur in conversation. If the word is hard to spell, that type of word of mouth will fail.
I don't agree that every hosting company needs to have host or hosting in their name or domain name. Some of the best business names sounded like pure nonsense at first, and those businesses used branding to create the meaning in the name. Google is an example of branding building meaning in a name that previously had no meaning. Google is a far better name than Infoseek or WebCrawler. As already mentioned, GoDaddy follows this pattern as well. If you can come up with a unique name and use branding to build meaning in that name, you will be far ahead of businesses with host in their name.

Easy to spell, preferably an English word (or 2).
