Decent Specs for srcds?

2x Opteron 252's @ 2.6GHz
2GB RAM
160GB HDD
3 IPs
1000GB/mo Bandwidth

I currently run a srcds from a vps and need to run more now.
I am looking to run 2 public srcds 24-28 slot servers and possibly 1 ArmA 2 server. Would this be enough system for these. They 1 of the srcds and the ArmA 2 server would be private, only 1 server would be public and may or may not be full all of the time. If they were all full would this system be too underpowered?

Honestly that machine isn't going to be all that great for what your looking to do, you should look into a newer Core 2 Quad or i7. I would also recommend at least 4gigs of memory if you want to run more than 3 servers.

You have to remember that the OS is going to use a bit of resources as well, and I'm just *assuming* your going to run Windows, so you should be ready for it to eat 500-800 megs of ram with a novice setup.

Well I am trying to go off my budget $100> (Sorry I forgot to mention that)

Right now my need is to only run 2 medium sized DoDource servers. But I may want to run a small private for ArmA 2

I can use either Windows or Linux. I have used Debian in the past for game servers.

I don't know about AA but SRCDS does not use that much RAM and that server is perfectly capable in running 50-60 slots.

Whats better, the deal I posted earlier for $70/month or
Single core: Perfect for 1-3 game servers or an intense website.

* One full, dedicated HT CPU core (Core i7 or better)
* 1024 MB of RAM
* 100 GB of hard drive space
* 500 GB of pure InterNAP bandwidth transfer
* One IP address

Current price: 39.99 USD; or, 35.99 with 3-month chunk rental

Is that VPS as well? Sounds like it is which is exactly what you're trying to move away from. I'd go with the $70/mo deal if its within your projected budget still.

Yes, it is, But I thought of possibly getting 2 and have them in different locations. The VPS I am leaving is a Fair Share and is definitely oversold

Why not just rent the game servers?

You must only deal with horrible GSP's then.

I have dealt with very good ones but look at the prices. A really good mid sized pub will run 50-60$. I can run 2 of those per system for the price of one. That's my justification for running my own. Plus not everyone needs a super powerful game server.

Ok So I think I am going with the 2 Opteron 252's.

Would this be ok for 32slot 100tick 333-500fps day of defeat source servers? Just wanna make sure before I bite the bullet
