Hello,

I currently have a server leased at netdirekt, but am extremely unsatisfied with their services.

As such, I am looking for a hoster that offers below for same or lower price.

Dedicated pc (no vps!)

Quadcore Opteron/Xeon (no i7!).

Windows server 2003.

Dedicated 100mbit connection with at least 3TB monthly.

8GB (possibly 12GB) of ram.

Two 7200 drives (preferably 2x SCSI 10k rpm or 1x Intel's SSD), any space will do. No raid!

3 Ip's

Hosting in Germany. Low ping is a must.

Remote restart and possibly used bandwidth statistics.

Monthly contract, no setup fee.

Optionally: DDOS protection (it adds a lot to the costs, but if possible, I would love it).

Currently, netdirekt charges 140€ for the above.

Which version of 2003? Web, Standard, etc.

What QC processor do you have with your current host atm?

Intel Q9550, 4x 2.83 GHz, but any Quad cpu (other than I7) will do.

Applications I use aren't cpu intensive. But they do work better with multiple cores.

OK, is there any reason why you don't want to upgrade to an i7 as they run much more efficiently than the Qxxx series in my experience?

If this is your final decision, I will make you some recommendations.

look in NL, there are plenty of good options there.
check worldstream.nl, specially their offers here in WHT, they have the closest prices to netdirekt which should fit your budget and they are well known in NL.

I think you shall be able to find a good dedicated hosting service at 140 euros per month. just search on some dedicated hosting related keywords in for the country you want to get hosted. Once you find some results come here to search for reviews about the web hosts or just ask questions about them.

It is quite old software which does not work on latest technology (eg, windows 2008 and i7).
If you can, please do suggest.

If possible, I would like to avoid NL. Great offers indeed with good hosting, but sadly their routing is somewhat bad.
Among others I run a gaming server, which requires a low ping at all times. NL (leaseweb more precisely) had 150ms ping with 350ms+ spikes, while german hosts (serverloft, netdirekt) had 25 on average with 80ms spikes.

I know I can find a good hosting for the allocated price. That isn't the case here.
I would however prefer to just hear some suggestions and then look them further, than play an endless game of "who are they" and "are they any good" which in the end wastes all of our time.

Fair enough - check out Star-Hosting. They are the datacenter of choice for our colocation and IP Transit, send them an e-mail <<snipped>> and you should be able to snatch a great deal.
