    Need help sharing large files

    Hi everyone,

We have a client who has an unusual filesharing need. They need to be able to transfer files of an unusually large size from one person to another.

We were doing this successfully through FTP accounts on their dedicated server/cluster, but their needs have grown to the point where even this is becoming inadequate.

For example, the latest file that needs to be sent/received today is 32GB. Multiply that by roughly 5-10 contributors uploading/downloading files every few days, and you start to get a sense for how big a problem we might have here!

What kinds of strategies should we be looking at for this sort of activity? The standard routes (file sharing software, file sharing services, FTP, etc.) don't seem to hold the answers anymore. At this point, we're going to be reduced to burning BluRay disks and using FedEx - not the most efficient way of doing things!

Any insights would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    Paul

At those file sizes I would encourage the client to switch to rsync based solutions simply because it's resumable, has checksum, and other valuable features. Other than that, if the customer is paying for the bandwidth, what exact issues are you having?
