UKFast, your opinion / experience

Hi

I am considering using UKFast for a couple of high spec dedicated servers as an alternative to RackSpace to reduce costs.

Looking around the forums on this site I see none of the usual xxx is down etc and very few reviews.

Any comments / feedback is greatly appreciated. I am looking to reduce my costs however I am not after a cheap solution, my key considerations are maximum Uptime, UK based, own infrastructure & quality/availability of support.

Many thanks

They host their webperf box in London, whereas all customer kit is in Manchester.

They pretend to have their own datacenter as well.

Make of that what you will.

Thanks Darren

Can you recommend a hosting company which meets my key criteria, mainly maximum Uptime, UK based, own infrastructure & quality/availability (24/7) of support.

We intend to host a premium B2B product and subscribers will not tolerate an unreliable service. The reason i looked at UKFast was that I was not able to see evidence of any significant downtime in the last 9 month whilst doing my research on another forum on this site + general searching on the web/twitter.

Thanks Again.

Bear in mind that 'quality', 'reliable', 'own infrastructure', 'support' does not equal "cheap" but that doesn't mean you need to pay Rackspace costs either.

With that in mind, there are plenty out there. Darren put it quite well. I haven't followed the Webperf ratings for many years, as they're so susceptible to practices like he mentions - has no real-world relevance whatsoever, much like many of the 'benchmarks' around

I suggest you give a few people a call to discuss your requirements. Looking for downtime isn't the way you want to go about it - speak to someone and get assured about how they run their business and if they have any single points of failure. Decent ones either won't, or minimise it to the point where it may as well be 'none'

People are much more likely to complain than complement but that said some of UKFasts advertising has been a close to the wind for truth etc. They don't seem a bad choice but as the saying goes. There is no best host just the best host for you.

Thread cleaned.

Let us help the OP by not advertising our own company.

Thanks.

Another bump, I realise it's a very old thread but it didn't seem to be completely answered and the thread seems like a good foundation.

Can't find much about them except one recent complaint (not a good sign but would like a few more opinions).

One thing I can say for sure is the sales people are VERY persistent/pushy which always puts me off a little bit (I don't like being grilled for 2 hours on why I'm not immediately asking where to sign).

Also a little concerned about the apparent astroturfing that is going on. Still, hopefully I can tell who's real and who's working for them

They've got to be better than Webfusion right? Any more thoughts since the thread was posted?

Many thanks

Check out Clook they provide high end reliable services in UK. Not sure about their own infrastructure. Have been with them around 5 years.
