Yum update
Hello,
Could somebody explain what does this mean:
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
addons | 951 B 00:00
base | 2.1 kB 00:00
extras | 1.1 kB 00:00
updates | 1.9 kB 00:00
Not using downloaded repomd.xml because it is older than what we have:
Current : Tue Feb 9 08:57:23 2010
Downloaded: Tue Jan 26 09:27:44 2010
Excluding Packages in global exclude list
Finished
Setting up Update Process
No Packages marked for Update
I never seen this error before " not using downloaded ........ "
Is it a problem? if yes, how to fix it.
Thanks,

Hi,
Why would you advise yum clean all?
Obviously the mirror they were connecting to was older than the one they had previously synced with.
yum clean all would allow them to sync against an older mirror.Common sense is not so common.

It generally clears the cache.
You could either go ahead and break your head on it or just hit #yum clean all which resolves most yum cache related issues. If you had customized your yum installer to an extent that #yum clean all would break your customization, then you would be able to fix it yourself without asking such a question on WHT
