I was looking over their plans, but they refuse to tell me what processor will be running on my server How can I possibly be ensured that the server will keep up if I don't know what processor they are utilizing?
I was very close to pulling the trigger, but the lack of information about what you get (before you have to agree to everything) is astounding to me.
It was like pulling teeth to get any information from the sales staff (chat window). I am already a customer of LW too!
Frustrating not to be able to know what comes with the server. I wanted to know if cpanel/whm, mysql, and other stuff is loaded and what the cost is - but I would have had to spend a bit of time asking each specific question since the guy didn't seem to want to give out any information.
does anyone here have any info?

Doesn't sound like LW would do this, everytime I've requested information they've given me it. You should open a ticket and find someone higher ranked to provide it.

Also, anyone running on a node currently could just do a cat /proc/cpuinfo and paste that here

I know of quite a few cloud companies that won't discuss what CPU they use. They want to put the focus on the actual GHz rather than the chipset they use.

Back to my main point, then: How would I know that the server has enough power?

GHz is rather pointless.... A 2.5GHz Q9xxx core is going to do alot more than a 2.5GHz E3300 core....

yes, you'll see that a lot. Most cloud setups simply give you 'cores', without mentioning what sort of core...if it's an Atom 1.2 or new DC grade Intel gear.

I would take this advice and run with it as it seems to be your only hope of finding any information.

This sounds very odd. What is your ticket number or host name?

I did not have a ticket number until just now. Previously I chatted with the sales staff from the LiveHelp window (as mentioned above).
Following the advice of Karl and Eleven2, I created a ticket:

Your ticket was only submitted a few moments ago. It will be answered shortly.
Pricing is listed here:
http://stormondemand.com/cloud-hosting/pricing/
Managed cPanel instances w/ WHM and Fantastico are $20 extra.
You can find more information about resource allocation here:
http://stormondemand.com/cloud-hosti...l#comparestorm
Storm is a virtual product which uses several different types of underlying hardware depending on your server instance size.
We will respond to your ticket as well.

We are using a 1GB Storm instance. The hardware our instance is running on is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor @ 2.66 GHz. Storm allocates a dedicated CPU per instance unlike other clouds, so presumably you can count on the full CPU. Here is a dump of the CPU info:
System Information
Platform: Linux x86 (64-bit)
Compiler: GCC 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)
Operating System: Linux 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 x86_64
Model: Linux PC (Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400)
Motherboard: Unknown Motherboard
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400
Processor ID: GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10
Logical Processors: 1
Physical Processors: 1
Processor Frequency: 2.66 GHz
L1 Instruction Cache: 0.00 B
L1 Data Cache: 0.00 B
L2 Cache: 3.00 MB
L3 Cache: 0.00 B
Bus Frequency: 0.00 Hz
Memory: 1.68 GB
Memory Type: N/A

Just a slight clarification, our lowest instance size is 2GB RAM.
