Whats your favorite computer you've owned?

Taking most people on here probably have had their fair share of hardware what is the favorite computer you have owned? For me it was this little beasty

    BP6 Dual Celeron 333Mhz overclocked to 400Mhz
    128Mb RAM
    2x80GB disks
    2x14" CRT monitors

Was a beast for its time and just kept working.

My SGI Indigo2. It won't do much in terms of speed, but it's stable as a rock for simple web browsing - at one point I used it for browsing the internet in a little shop I had, and it didn't see a single reboot or hiccup in well over a year.

    Glorious piece of machinery.

My first laptop. Toshiba 13 inch. Thing was huge with a nice LCD screen (which was thin). Had a 500 MB HD which was huge back in the day. And I think 32 MBs of RAM. Had Windows 95 on it at one point then went to linux.

I have that too, build my new pc about a month ago. That cpu is SWEET! I went with the MSI x58 mboard and the overclock capabilities on it is crazy. Pretty much with all the x58 boards. I have 6 gigs memory, win7 ulti, and plan on doing velociraptor drives later on. I forget which nvidia I have, but it's a newer model and one of those big fan encased ones. Rips thru games and movie making like a hot knife on butter.. That i7 cpu is crazy fast..

Having severs with customer data on it without proper monitoring is like having one night stand without using protections - eventually, there will be an 'oh s**t!' moment.

A Dell Dimension 8200 that had a good 5-year run. Was first loaded with Windows ME and then upgraded to XP and then Vista and I tried 7 on it as well. Every hardware part still works perfectly as of today.

    Intel Pentium 4 1.7ghz
    512MB RDRAM
    80GB IDE HD

My old Cyrix 266. It wasn't the first I had, but it was the first after I discovered Linux(Slackware to be exact).

Compiling kernels took forever: Downloading on a 26.6k unstable connection and then overnight compiling. The worst was when you found out you forgot to include an important driver.

Up until now I have never been a fan of Apple. I have always thought their equipment was too expensive and had "funny" characteristics like the home finger bumps on the wrong keys and a single button mouse.

After a bad experience with a name brand laptop, I looked at the MacBook Pro 13" Laptop. I was drawn by the quality and resolution of the screen. I have low vision and the new flat screens just can't compare to some of my old CRTs with very good pixel density. The Apples compare favorably.

What sold me is the quality of construction. The case is made from close tolerance aluminum, the fit and finish are very good. In addition, the touch pad is the first functional touch pad I have ever used. It is over sized and it actually recognizes my finger movements including two fingers for the right click. I can actually get by without my Logitech VX Nano mouse. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the Nano but the Mac touch pad really works.

The speed is the other selling factor. It is up and actually operational in 15 or 20 seconds from a cold start. All of the applications blaze. It is unquestionably the fastest computer I have ever owned.

I also have three applications that will only work in Windows. To get around this problem, I installed VMWare and a licensed copy of Win XP that I had on the shelf. It works perfectly along side OS X. Even in a virtual machine XP runs faster than it did on my old native XP desktops from a few years ago.

The MacBook Pro 13" is now my favorite computer. Take a look the next time you see one.

    Jeff

I loved my old iBook. I never felt that the newer MacBooks compared to the old iBooks in terms of build quality, so I switched back to PCs after trying a MacBook without much luck.

My Dell Inspiron 700m laptop which I purchased during the infamous $750 off $1,499 coupon.

Wow that was almost 5 years ago. My 700m is now retired, collecting dust in our computer graveyard (spare closet). Eventually I'll reformat the hard drive and install Linux on it.

My current, Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop Why? Because I got it for basically nothing (traded for a 360 that I bought broken for $50 for and then sent to MS for free repair), and because it's been chugging along happily with no issues for 2 years. I upgraded the RAM to it's max of 4GB and the original 80GB hard drive to a 320GB, installed Linux Mint, and it's been fantastic. I love it It's the first laptop I've had in over 5 years and I take it with me everywhere like a freaking baby.

I don't think I've ever had a favorite computer I owned, although I do like my girlfriends MacBook Air.

    My iMac

    Windows based PC -
My old dell desktop - forgt the name of it, but it was so reliable, didn't lose much speed over time (and I didn't upgrade it with memory etc..) Today, Dell's are not made like they used to be.

    My latest...

IBM ThinkPad with Core2Duo 1.86GHz, 4GB MEM, 2GB Intel Turbo Boost, 160GB HDD, 2.4 LBS!!!!

Sure...its not the most powerful out there but that not why I bought it...I move around a lot and its the weight that matters. Thats one of the lightest laptops around with FULL SIZE keyboard and a decent 12.1" screen, and it doesnt bake my thighs like the others and is constantly cool and doesnt make any fan noises either...

    12GB DDR3 Ram
Some crappy graphics card I keep forgetting to replace, I got the new one sitting beside me too, true laziness right there.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I've owned any of my computers long enough to fall in love with one. I know that the computer I will be getting soon, I will absolutely fall in love with.

    My latest desktop:-
    Intel Core2Quad Q8300 2.5GHz
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    2x 640GB SATA Hard Drive with RAID1
    NVIDIA GeForce GT220 1024MB DDR3
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
20" HD Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
Should have gone with a Core i7 instead. I was not aware of the extra features like Turbo Boost and Hyper Threading, etc initially...

I personally don't own any computers, only laptops. I would have to go with Lenovo T series.
